The Moroccan Royal Armed Forces (FAR) reportedly received a batch of SpyX suicide drones developed by the Israeli company BlueBird Aero System

This acquisition aims to “reinforce the arsenal of artillery and infantry of the FAR”, indicated Monday the specialized Forum FAR Morocco on its Facebook page. The SpyX drone, according to its manufacturer, is an “accurate”, “advanced” and “easily deployable by a small team” drone. With a length of 2 meters and a width of 1.4 meters, this suicide drone has an operational range of up to 50 kilometers and runs on electric power, it is pointed out.

The SpyX can go at a maximum flight speed estimated at 150 km/hour, which can reach 250 km/hour in attack mode, which allows it to hit its targets, static or in motion, with precision. The drone also has an “endurance of up to 1.5 hours” and can withstand explosive charges weighing up to 2.5 kilograms.

Combined with the Vtol, another reconnaissance drone, SpyX offers a “superiority” to its user, specifies its Israeli manufacturer, adding that the drone also offers “the possibility of canceling an attack at the last minute, thus making it possible to avoid ‘possible casualties among civilians’.

The purchase of this drone reinforces military cooperation between Morocco and Israel, since the resumption of their diplomatic relations in December 2020. The kingdom has already acquired several Israeli drones and defense systems and senior officials from both countries are increasing visits in Rabat and Tel Aviv.
