In the wake of the announcement of the upcoming opening of the Israeli and Moroccan embassies, the head of the Israeli liaison office in Rabat, Morocco, David Govrin, announced the arrival of Moroccan companies Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and Air Arabia Maroc (Moroccan subsidiary of Air Arabia) in the Hebrew state in October, reciprocally to that of the Israeli companies El Al and Israir in Morocco, already in effect.

“Due to the growing demand for direct Morocco-Israel flights, Air Arabia and RAM will launch new routes connecting Marrakech and Casablanca to Israel, from October,” David Govrin said this week on his Twitter account, qualifying this decision “a major step in efforts to strengthen relations between Morocco and Israel.”

Since the end of July, the Israeli companies El Al and Israir have been operating regular commercial flights between Tel Aviv in Israel and Marrakech and Casablanca in Morocco. A third Israeli company, Arkia, will launch its flights from next September. According to the Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO), 200,000 Israeli visitors could be expected, starting this year, in different segments, including family or religious tourism, leisure, business, and events.
