The deputy commercial director of Transavia, Nicolas Henin, said in an interview with the newspaper Le Figaro that reservations to Morocco “exploded” as soon as the border opening was announced. According to him, between 400 and 500 daily reservations were made in January.

As a result, the company hopes to be able to have 40% more seats compared to 2019, the reference year, in particular thanks to the addition of Oujda and Fez destinations from Nantes Atlantique airport. Marrakech remains the flagship destination, he underlines.

According to Mr. Henin, prices are “broadly at a similar level to those of a traditional year” even though short-term bookings have not been offered at “rock bottom” prices. If the prices are “a little high” over the next two weeks, he believes that beyond that, “they become reasonable”.

The Moroccan Tourist Office would also have assured that “all local activities and infrastructures have been supported by domestic tourism” and the Deputy Director-General underlines that “Morocco is doing everything possible to ensure that this tourist season is a full season”. “Except for the last twist due to the pandemic, all the conditions are in place to have a great summer,” he concludes.
