The Moroccan authorities are changing their strategy in the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism. From now on, any traveler leaving or entering Morocco must declare any amount greater than 100,000 dirhams.

The new circular from the Customs and Indirect Tax Administration (ADII) follows the amendment adopted in the 2022 finance law, relating to Article 66 bis of the Customs and Indirect Tax Code.

The government had introduced it during the debates on the PLF 2022 in the House of Councillors. This amendment obliges all travelers to declare trade bills, means of payment and financial instruments denominated in foreign currencies, when entering or leaving the territory, when their value is equal to or greater than 100,000 dirhams.
