The King of Morocco has stirred up new anger after a demonstration in Casablanca and ordered an investigation.

Mohammed VI, Morocco’s King, is not at all happy. And he made it known through the order to open an investigation to shed light on a case of expulsion of Moroccans, most of them residing abroad, and which gave rise to demonstrations. .

According to the newspaper Bladi which gave the information, a dozen families, including Moroccans living abroad, have expressed their anger against the decision to evict the villas they occupy in Mohammedia (administrative region of Casablanca- Settat), for almost 60 years.

“A total of 11 villas, part of the royal estate owned by King Mohammed VI’s mother, were sold in 2006 by the Royal Family Land Administration at a fixed price of 400 dirhams per square meter. 3 years later, the buyer, a real estate developer, resold the property with a capital gain of 500 dirhams “, notes Bladi.

Hammou Ajmila, president of the Moroccan Organization for Human Rights and Protection of Public Property, said the parties failed to renew the lease contracts during the real estate transaction, in accordance with the regulations in force. Except that the new buyer refuses to renew the lease.

Better, the newspaper continues, the real estate developer even refrains from collecting the rents stipulated in the old lease. In order to avoid legal action for unpaid rents, the amounts of rents to be paid are deposited by the families at the Caisse du tribunal de Casablanca.

After officially receiving notification of the eviction decision made in their absence, the tenants, the majority of whom reside in Europe, were forced to return to Morocco. This is how they beat the tarmac, in order to be heard. This situation angered King Mohammed VI, who ordered the opening of an investigation.

As for the tenants of the premises, they are asking for nothing more than to be restored to their rights. Better, the newspaper said, the victims are asking to be kept informed of the results of the investigation ordered by King Mohammed VI.
