The American technology group Oracle will strengthen its commitment to research and development (R&D) by expanding its activities in Morocco, where its workforce will be increased to 1,000 highly qualified young talents, specializing in information technologies.
This strategic expansion comes following an agreement signed Thursday in San Francisco, the hub of technological innovation in the United States, by the Minister Delegate in charge of the Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Ghita Mezzour and the President and CEO of Oracle, Safra Catz, to consolidate links and commitment to innovation in Morocco. It is also about catalyzing the advancement of cutting-edge technologies developed by Oracle, intended to address the challenges faced by its customers on a global scale, according to a joint press release.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence, and Evaluation of Public Policies, Mohcine Jazouli, and the Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE) , Ali Seddiki. Oracle’s expansion, a first of its kind in Africa and the 8th in the world come following the opening of its development center at Parc Casanearshore in Casablanca. According to the press release, around 40% of the jobs created will be distributed outside the regions of Greater Casablanca and Rabat-Salรฉ-Kรฉnitra, to create professional opportunities across the Kingdom.
