The bodies of 20 Chadian migrants were found on Tuesday in the Libyan desert, 120 km from the Chadian border, local media reported on Wednesday.

“The bodies of 20 migrants who got lost in the Libyan desert near Chad have been found,” local newspaper Tchadinfo reported on Wednesday.

According to the same newspaper, “the bodies were discovered by a truck driver who was crossing the desert and was recovered on Tuesday about 320 km southwest of Kufra and 120 km from the border with Chad”.

According to health sources cited by the same media, the victims died about 14 days ago, the last call on a mobile phone found at the scene dating back to June 13.

Thousands of migrants cross Libya’s porous borders every year from Sudan, Niger, and Chad, to come to work in this country or to attempt the crossing of the Mediterranean to Europe.
