Tunisia/Libya: Signing of an Agreement to Develop Investments and Trade

A strategic partnership agreement was signed between the president of TABC, Anis Jaziri and the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture of Misrata, Fathi El-Amin.

This agreement, signed on the sidelines of the visit to Libya by a delegation from the Tunisia-Africa Business Council-TABC led by its president, aims to develop investment and trade between Tunisia and Libya, said a press release on Friday. a copy reached Gnetnews.

It was agreed to organize the first edition of the Tunisian-Libyan exhibition with an African vocation on the grounds of the Misrata International Fair on November 15, 16, and 17, in order to encourage Tunisian investors to settle in Misrata as a point of departure for certain countries of sub-Saharan Africa and to forge partnerships with Libyan industrialists and traders.

The agreement also stipulates the active participation of the Chamber of Misrata with a large high-level delegation of businessmen from the region in the 4th edition of the Tunisian-Libyan Economic Forum, which will be organized in Sfax on September 28 and 29. next.

The two parties have also agreed to work with the authorities of the two countries to activate exchanges between Tunisia and Libya by creating a maritime line between Sfax and Misrata and by intensifying flights between Tunisia and the Libyan city.

Misrata is a very important economic and industrial pole, open to the Mediterranean with a commercial port which is one of the most important and active Libyan ports, and a developed free zone that allows investors to obtain numerous privileges. Today, Misrata is positioned as one of the most important economic and commercial centers for the development of trade with sub-Saharan Africa through Niger, Sudan, and Chad.

Misrata has the largest fleet of trucks in Africa, it has more than 7,000 trucks and the Misrata Chamber brings together about 30,000 companies from various sectors, thus occupying a privileged position in the Libyan economy.
