First “Grand Caravan” for the Tunisian Air Force

Tunisia Tribune (Tunisian Air Force)-  On January 8, 2023, one of the first Cessna 208 Grand Caravan EX utility aircraft destined for the Tunisian Air Force was photographed at South St Paul/Municipal Airport -Richard E Fleming in the State of Minnesota.

The Grand Caravan EX is temporarily registered as N692EX. Its future Tunisian serial number is ..1702/TS-UDB and its construction number is 208B5692. The first device will most likely be the TS-UDA, but no details have yet been found for this device, says the Scramble site (Dutch Aviation Society).

In March 2022, Textron Aviation was awarded a contract by ATI Engineering Services to deliver four Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX utility aircraft to the Tunisian Air Force. ATI Engineering Services will equip the aircraft with an electro-optical/infrared sensor, tactical radio, operator console, video data link, and night vision-capable lighting to meet Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capability requirements.

On September 30, 2021, the U.S. Department of Defense awarded ATI Engineering Services a $10 million contract for an ISR system to be installed on two Cessna Grand Caravans for Tunisia. The work will be carried out in Johnstown (PA) and should be completed on November 30, 2022. This ISR contract could have been modified and involved four aircraft.
