A few months after his dismissal for serious misconduct, Rachid M’barki, former Franco-Moroccan presenter of the BFMTV night news settles down in Morocco, where he will continue his journalism career.

A new adventure begins for Rachid M’barki. This time, he was far from France, the country where he was born. “I think we can announce it this evening: I am delighted to join the Eco Média group,” he announced Monday in Casablanca, during the ceremony of the 19th edition of the Economist prize for research in economics, management, and law.

On February 22, the Altice group, owner of BFMTV and RMC, announced the dismissal of Rachid M’Barki for “passive corruption and breach of trust” following an internal investigation which was carried out to find out if he ” acted alone and identify the dysfunctions that allowed these news items to arrive on the air outside of all the usual internal rules. » In January, he was accused of having used the antenna to broadcast erroneous or very oriented information to serve foreign interests, between 2021 and 2022, without referring to his hierarchy, in particular a report on the organization of a Morocco-Spain economic forum in Dakhla, during which he used the term “Moroccan Sahara”.

Forbidden Stories, the international consortium of journalists at the origin of the allegations against Rabat concerning the use of spyware, Pegasus then accused Rachid M’barki of being “financed” by Morocco to make such a speech on air. Accusations were rejected outright by the Franco-Moroccan during his hearing by a commission of inquiry at the National Assembly. He had described all the allegations against him as “total absurdity” and also denounced the methods of “Story Killers”, and in particular of his Radio France colleague Frédéric Métézeau, a member of the collective, whom he accused of having created a business by brandishing the name and face of a news presenter known to the French.
