At the UN General Assembly, Morocco Votes for the Self-Determination of Palestine

The United Nations General Assembly voted by an overwhelming majority on Tuesday evening for a resolution entitled โ€œThe right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.โ€ The text had the support of 172 states, 10 abstained while 4 opposed it, including the United States and Israel.

Morocco voted in favor of the draft resolution. All members of the League of Arab States have adopted the same position. France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom also supported the text, which reaffirms the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the creation of their own state.

The Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, called last week in Rabat, at the end of his meeting with his Spanish counterpart, Josรฉ Manuel Albares, “the international community to assume the responsibility of launching a serious political process leading to the implementation in place of a two-state solution, with a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders and with Al Quds-East as its capital.
