Emergency Measures for the Care of the National Community Abroad

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad took, on Monday, a series of emergency measures aimed at improving the services of diplomatic and consular representations and addressing the concerns of the Algerian community abroad. foreigner, by the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who attaches particular interest to the Algerian community abroad.

After the publication of several press articles concerning the start of the implementation of an appointment system for biometric passport applications, sparking a constructive debate within the Algerian community residing abroad, and to avoid any confusion left by certain media statements, it should be recalled that as part of efforts to address the concerns of members of the Algerian community residing abroad and to improve the quality of consular services, and per instructions from the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune who attaches particular interest to our community, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad has taken emergency measures.

These measures provide for improving the services of diplomatic and consular representations and optimally addressing the concerns of the community. Instructions were given to this effect, for the establishment of an appointment system concerning various services, in particular the obtaining of biometric documents, while taking care of emergency cases (elderly, sick people, etc..) without prior appointment.

In the same context, to respond to all requests for renewal of biometric passports, which experienced a notable increase during the summer holidays, as well as the renewal of a large number of passports issued in 2014 and which expire this year, instructions were given to diplomatic and consular centers to extend weekly working hours and organize local offices to welcome Algerian nationals.

As part of these constant efforts to provide quality consular service, discussions are underway to take additional measures to reduce the crowds observed during this exceptional peak period, as in recent years.
