Dt 1.160 Billion From the WB to Tunisia at 1% And Over 5 Years

The implementation of financial cooperation and development programs with the World Bank and the diversification of their areas were, on Wednesday evening, at the center of a meeting by videoconference, between the Minister of Finance Sihem Nemsia and the Vice-President of the World Bank for the Middle East and North Africa, Ferid Belhaj, in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Saied, who is taking part in the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB).

The meeting was devoted to the follow-up of cooperation programs established between Tunisia and the World Bank on the financial and development plans, in particular programs related to support for small and medium-sized enterprises and financial integration, in addition to projects of development concluded between the two parties, according to a press release published by the Ministry of Finance.

Tunisia had obtained, on April 6, 2022, financing from the World Bank, worth 400 million US dollars, the equivalent of 1,160 million dinars. This funding is intended for the social protection project. It will be repaid over 17 years with 5 years of grace and an interest rate not exceeding 1 percent.

Tunisia is taking part in the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group which will be held from April 18 to 22 in Washington.

The Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Saied and the Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), Marouane Abbasi take part in these meetings in person, while the Minister of Finance, Sihem Nemsia participates remotely, said the Ministry of the Economy in a press release
