23 deaths from the coronavirus have also been reported, according to the Moroccan Ministry of Health.

Morocco recorded 5,494 cases of coronavirus infection on Saturday, the highest daily toll ever reported in the Kingdom for more than 8 months.

The Moroccan Ministry of Health has reported 23 deaths from Covid-19, in addition to the recovery of 1,604 patients, in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, the Department of Health said that the new cases of infection brought the total toll of people affected by the virus to 575,162, including 9,559 deaths, and 542,078 recoveries.

On November 12, Morocco reported 6,195 confirmed cases, in a daily toll considered the heaviest and ever reached since the onset of the pandemic.

For several weeks, Morocco has experienced an unprecedented increase in the number of contaminations, at a time when the country was heading towards the relaxation of restrictive health measures related to traffic between cities before the government announced a series of anti-Covid measures to curb the spread of the virus.

21,522,436 Moroccans out of a total of 36,000,000 inhabitants have already been inoculated with the vaccine, in one of the largest vaccination campaigns in Africa and the Arab world.
