At the United Nations Human Rights Council, Morocco voted for the non-binding resolution calling for an end to arms sales to Israel. Morocco, which has held the presidency of the United Nations HRC since January 10, is under pressure from public opinion to sever all ties with the Zionist entity.

Approved by 28 votes for, 6 against (United States, Germany, Argentina, Paraguay, Bulgaria, and Malawi) and 13 abstentions, including that of France, the resolution invites “all States to cease the sale, transfer, and delivery arms, ammunition and other military equipment to Israel to prevent further violations of international humanitarian law and human rights abuses and violations.”

The document also calls for “an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, immediate humanitarian access and delivery of emergency humanitarian aid, particularly through crossing points and routes.” land, and that the supply of necessities to the Palestinian population of Gaza be urgently restored.

The UN Human Rights Council also declares itself “gravely concerned by the statements of Israeli officials which amount to incitement to genocide and demands that Israel assumes its legal responsibility to prevent genocide”.

Remember that the vote on this resolution coincided with Al-Quds Day celebrated on the last Friday of each Ramadan. In Casablanca, a gigantic demonstration was organized on this occasion. A pressing call was reiterated to the government to sever all ties with the Zionist entity which, methodically, continues its genocide in the Gaza Strip, but also in the West Bank. In Oujda, the demonstration of solidarity with the martyred Palestinian people organized the same day experienced excesses from the police who tried to ban it.
