With the ambition to make its energy mix cleaner and less dependent on fossil energy, Algeria must develop its skills in the field of storage, which remains a challenge to maximize the yield of renewable energies such as solar.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines in Algeria has signed two agreements with that of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the field of renewable energy storage systems. The signing of the conventions took place on Saturday, February 18 at the Research Center in Semiconductor Technology for Energy (CRTSE).

The first agreement that was concluded between the Algerian Electricity and Gas Company (Sonelgaz), the CRTSE, and the Center for the Development of Renewable Energies, relates to the development of storage systems for renewable energies. The second agreement concerns the development of cooperation with a view to exploiting the results of research in renewable energies, in particular in energy storage systems.

This cooperation stems from the decisions of the Council of Ministers held on February 5, 2023, relating to the development of research in the field of solar energy storage, by bringing out a fruitful interaction between the energy sector, the mines, and the scientific research sector.
