Immigration – Algeria Visas and Travel – While many Algerian embassies around the world, notably in Qatar, the Netherlands and Ethiopia, announced on Monday, October 31 the abolition of health protocols for entering Algerian soil, the Algerian authorities as well as the airlines remained silent on this major announcement. This has thus cast doubt on the date of entry into force of this relaxation.

Nevertheless, the companies serving Algeria, in particular, Air Algérie and ASL Airlines, were finally able to announce, on November 2, the fact that the PCR test and the health pass are no longer required for flights to Algeria.

After ASL Airlines announced in the morning of November 2 the update of the conditions of entry into Algeria, the national airline Air Algérie, followed in the footsteps of the French carrier by publishing a press release on its social networks and by updating the entry requirements on its website. Note that other foreign companies such as Air France and Volotea also made the announcement at the end of the day. This, therefore, reassures travelers, who feared being turned back at airports.

As a reminder, the General Directorate for Prevention and Health Promotion, under the aegis of the Algerian Ministry of Health, published on November 1, a document dated October 31, 2022, formalizing the “lifting of restrictions against Covid-19 at points of entry” and therefore confirming that travelers no longer need to present a vaccination certificate or a negative PCR test result carried out 72 hours before departure.

“Given the improvement in the epidemiological situation of Covid-19 in Algeria with a significant drop in morbidity and mortality and noting the improvement in the health situation in the world and the return to normal life, I have the honor to inform you of the lifting of all entry and exit restrictions at air, land and sea entry points regarding the vaccination certificate and the RT-PCR test”, detailed the Director General of Health, Djamel Fourar.
