Sonelgaz CEO Receives Italian Ambassador to Algeria

The CEO of the Sonelgaz group, Mourad Adjal, received, Wednesday in Algiers, the Italian ambassador to Algeria, Alberto Cutillo, with whom he discussed ways and means of strengthening cooperation with Italian companies, said a press release from the band.

The meeting, which took place in the presence of senior executives of the Sonelgaz group, was an opportunity to review the state of bilateral relations between Sonelgaz and Italian companies, which both parties described as “excellent”. , specifies the press release.

On this occasion, the two parties expressed “their common desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy field, particularly concerning electrical interconnection through the construction of an underwater cable linking Algeria to Italy via Sardinia, the participation of Italian companies in the realization of the energy transition program, and the transfer of expertise in electricity and gas, in particular through training.

In this regard, the CEO of Sonelgaz reaffirmed the availability of the public group to strengthen avenues of cooperation and diversify partnership opportunities with Italian companies, in the best interests of both parties, recalling Algeria’s position as a reliable energy supplier and the reputation of Sonelgaz on the regional and international scene.

For his part, the Italian ambassador to Algeria expressed his “great” interest in two essential points, namely the contribution to the realization of the executive study of the project of connection to the electricity network of the northern and southern regions, and the creation of a training center intended for young Algerians and Africans.

In this regard, Mr. Adjal welcomed this proposal, emphasizing the enormous capacities and significant infrastructures available to Sonelgaz in terms of training. He also expressed the public group’s availability to create a twinning between its training schools and their Italian counterparts through a memorandum of understanding, the details of which will be decided later.
