Algeria and Gabon signed an Air Transport Agreement, allowing Air Algerie and Tassili Airlines to open routes to Gabon, said diplomatic sources.

The Agreement was signed last Thursday in the Gabonese capital by the director for civil aviation and meteorology at Public Works and Transport Ministry Smain Youcef Azizi and General Manager of Gabonese Civil Aviation Directorate Dominique Oyinamono.

Covering both passenger transport and cargo, the Agreement allows the aircrafts of the two national airlines, Air Algerie and Tassili Airlines, to open routes to Gabon, on the basis of reciprocity as part of the law in force in both countries.

The agreement was clinched following a two-day working meeting in Libreville.

Algerian ambassador to Libreville, Mohamed Antar Daoud, hailed such “a new dynamic in the relations between Algeria and Gabon under the leadership of Presidents Abdelaziz Bouteflika and Ali Bongo Ondimba.”

This agreement also follows last February visit to Algiers by Pacôme Moubelet Boubeya, Gabonese State Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Regional Integration in charge of the Gabonese abroad.

During this visit, Algeria and Gabon agreed to hold the High Joint Commission in Algiers for the first time since 1987.
