Algeria: 18 Months in Prison Required Against Rabah Madjer

A sentence of 18 months in prison has been requested against the former footballer of the Algerian national team, Rabah Madjer. The player with the spectacular backheel is being prosecuted for fraud. The verdict will be pronounced on June 9.

Former Fennecs coach and former star striker of the Algerian football team and FC Porto, Rabah Madjer, could face 18 months in prison. This is the request made by a prosecutor in Algiers, this Thursday, June 2, 2022. The former football star is being prosecuted for “false and use of forgery, false declaration and fraud” . Rabah Madjer, now 63, reportedly continued to collect checks from public advertising, a year after the closure of his two newspapers Al Balagh and Al Balagh Erriadhi . For these torts, he is sued by the ANEP (National Publishing and Advertising Agency). The plaintiff demands the restitution of the sums pocketed in addition to a payment of damages.
