Zionist Attacks in Jenin: Palestinians Suffer Atrocities in the Absence of International Protection

In the absence of international protection, the Palestinian people continue to suffer deadly aggression and atrocities at the hands of the Zionist occupation, “which gravely violates” international humanitarian law, contemptuous of international law and community, including the Security Council, said the Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyadh Mansour.

In letters to the UN Secretary-General, the presidents of the Security Council, and the UN General Assembly, Mr. Mansour referred to “the continuing attacks” by the Zionist occupation forces against the Palestinian people and his property “in the absence of international protection”.

Referring to the “new large-scale Zionist military invasion” of the Jenin refugee camp on Thursday by the occupying army, Mansour denounced the “impunity” to which Zionist soldiers are accustomed, violently attacking houses Palestinians and firing live ammunition “without any regard for human life”, killing at least ten people and injuring more than 20, four of them in serious condition.

“Nothing justifies such a use of force against a civilian population under occupation”, denounced the Palestinian diplomat, noting that Palestinian men, women, and children are killed in their homes, at Zionist checkpoints, in their cities. , villages, and on their own land, “totally disregarding international law and human rights”.

Palestinian leaders, he continued, “therefore reiterate their urgent calls for the international protection of the Palestinian people.”

Mr. Mansour urged the international community to act to end the atrocities and persecution of the Palestinian people and to ensure their protection in accordance with international humanitarian law and relevant United Nations resolutions, including, among others, resolutions 471 (1980 ), 605 (1987), 681 (1990), 904 (1994) and 1073 (1996) of the Security Council, and the 2018 Report of the Secretary-General.
