Tunisia Welcomed More than 2 Million Tourists, until the End of June 2022

More than 4,750,000 tourists are expected in 2022, according to a statement by the Director-General of the Tunisian National Tourist Office (ONTT), Nizar Slimane to TAP

The director-general of the Tunisian National Tourist Office (ONTT), Nizar Slimane indicated on Friday that Tunisia welcomed more than 2,102,321 tourists of different nationalities until June 30.

In a statement given to the Tunis Afrique Presse agency (TAP/official), Slimane said “that more than 4,750,000 tourists are expected during the year 2022, an increase of more than 100% compared to the ‘past year’.

In addition, 302,293 French tourists visited Tunisia until June 30, 2022. A tourist market has always been important, followed by the Libyan market with approximately 815,083 tourists.

According to the same source, until June 30, 2022, more than 57,000 German tourists and 29,290 Czech tourists flocked to Tunisia.

Regarding the Algerian market, “Tunisia welcomed around 54,572 Algerian tourists, compared to 6,563 who visited the country in 2021, despite the closure of land borders between the two countries for non-residents”.

In this context, the head of ONTT said that “tourist receipts amount to 1,234.2 MD, against 800.3 MD in 2021, i.e. an increase of 54.2%. Receipts in euros reached 378 million euros until June 2022, compared to 242 million euros in 2021, an evolution of 56.2%”, reported TAP.
