Tunisia received the 3rd batch of 158,400 doses of Astra Zeneca vaccine, as part of the global COVAX initiative, after having received through the same mechanism 98,400 doses of the same vaccine at the start of last April.

The Tunisian World Health Organization (WHO) representative, Ramzi Louhichi, said on the sidelines of a vaccine reception ceremony, that Tunisia should receive more than 760 thousand doses of Pfizer and Astra Zeneca vaccines as part of the Covax initiative, until the end of next June.

He recalled that Tunisia has already received a batch of 93,600 doses of Pfizer vaccine in the same framework which should provide Tunisia with 4.3 million doses of anti-covid 19 vaccines.

For her part, the representative of Unicef ​​in Tunisia, Marilena Viviani, indicated in a press statement that the organization recommends and encourages the Tunisian people to join the vaccination campaign since it is the only means allowing to fight against this virus and save human lives, specifying that the vaccine “Astra Zeneca” has been authorized by the WHO and Tunisia has decided to use it and does not pose any problem since it is recommended for over 60 years old.
