Tunisia Pleads the Cause of the Emirates Within the Arab Liaison Committee Towards the War in Ukraine

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Othman Jarandi, participated yesterday, Wednesday, March 09, 2022, on the sidelines of the 157th session of the ministerial meeting of the Council of the Arab League, in a consultation meeting dedicated to developments in the Arab region, in the face of accelerating international changes and the repercussions of the war in Ukraine. 

Something that requires the relaunch of joint Arab action in order to face the challenges posed to Arab countries.

An agreement was found, to this end, around the composition of the Arab ministerial liaison committee, created recently, to conduct contacts with the parties in conflict, and the active countries, in order to contribute to the end of the war. , making the language of dialogue prevails.

The Minister affirmed, in this context, the importance of the presence of the United Arab Emirates, being the Arab member of the Security Council, within this committee and others, formed within the framework of the Arab League, so that they can defend Arab affairs within the decision-making body of the United Nations. A proposal was welcomed by the participants.

Jarandi also indicated that the erosion of Arab positions towards matters raised on the double regional and international level, does not serve the interests of the region and impacts the credibility of the Arab group with international partners, and also with of Arab public opinion.

To this end, he called for the unity of the Arab ranks and the need to stick to impartiality and attachment to positions of principle, based on respect for international legality and the call for resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomatic methods.

On another level, there was talk of the progress of preparations for the 31st Arab summit to be hosted by Algeria on November 1 and 2, 2022.
