Tunisia obtained, on Thursday, the European equivalence of its Covid vaccine certificate, the European Commission announced in a press release.

Tunisia is one of five countries having obtained this equivalence, alongside Montenegro, Taiwan, Thailand, and Uruguay, and whose entry into force begins this Wednesday, December 22.

“This decision stems from a technical assessment carried out by the EU services of the digital certificates issued by these five countries and territories which, as a result, will be connected to the EU system. The EU will accept their COVID certificates under the same conditions as the EU’s digital COVID certificate, ”the Commission statement explained.

“This means that holders of certificates issued by Montenegro, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, and Uruguay will be able to use them under the same conditions as holders of a digital COVID certificate from the EU”, further clarified the same source.

This brings the number of countries and territories connected to the European Union’s Covid certificate system to 60.
