Tunisia-Libya: Review of Cooperation in the Infrastructure and Public Works Sectors

Libyan Minister of Transport in the government of national unity Mohamed Al-Shahoubi said on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, that his government was determined to remove the obstacles that hinder cooperation with Tunisia.

The Libyan minister’s remarks came during his meeting with the president of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade, and Handicrafts (Utica) Samir Majoul at the headquarters of his department.

Al-Shahoubi praised the expertise of Tunisian companies in the infrastructure, construction and public works sectors and said there was room for investment in Libya. He also said that it was necessary to pool efforts in order to improve land, sea, and air transport.

Major, who is leading a business delegation visiting Libya from December 24-30, said there are real opportunities for economic partnership. The private sector in both countries is ready to explore these opportunities and develop infrastructure projects, he added, stressing the need to consolidate the food, health, and energy sovereignty of the two countries.

The meeting participants called for providing the necessary conditions for the promotion of bilateral projects.

The Tunisian delegation met officials representing the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development and the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Libya as well as Libyan businessmen.
