He had been charged with temporarily directing the establishment of the Tunisian Radio

The President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed has decided to put an end to the functions of Chokri Cheniti, responsible for temporarily directing Tunisian Radio, without designating a successor.

This is what emerges from a press release published on Monday evening by the Presidency, affirming “the cancellation of all the appointments and designations that he has made”.

The press release, however, did not disclose the reasons for the dismissal.

It should be remembered that Chokri Cheniti, public services adviser, had been given the task of temporarily directing the institution of Tunisian Radio on 29 September.

In 2019, the President and CEO of the Tunisian Radio Establishment, Abderazzak Tabib, resigned from his post without disclosing the reasons for his decision.

The dismissal of Cheniti is part of a series of dismissals and dismissals of a number of officials and executives occupying high positions in the Tunisian state, since last July 25.

The majority of Tunisian political forces reject Saïed’s decisions, which they consider to be “a coup d’etat against the Constitution”, while other parties support them, considering that it is a “restoration of the process of the Revolution” of 2011, which had deposed the regime of the former president, Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali (1987-2011).
