President Kaïs Saïed continues to lead his electoral campaign for the presidential election ahead of schedule by traveling to Mnihla, a working-class neighborhood west of Tunis, where he lived before he acceded to the Palace of Carthage, to “inquire about the “operation to remove construction waste accumulated in the region for more than a decade”.

This is stated in a press release from the Presidency of the Republic posted on its official Facebook page, following the visit made yesterday, Monday, February 5, 2024, by the President of the Republic, adding that the work to remove this waste has started more than two weeks following the instructions given by the Head of State.

However, it was not specified where the construction waste collected was dumped, the agent interviewed by the president has spoken of a vague dump ( “map” ). And we dare to believe that they were just transferred to another district, because construction waste piles up everywhere in vacant lots in the four corners of the country, and sometimes even in the middle of homes. And there is no indication that they will disappear from the urban landscape after this visit by the president, as bad practices die hard in this country.

“Public cleanliness is essentially the responsibility of governors,” said Saïed, urging those responsible to fulfill their duties in this area as best they can. “Anyone who fails in their duty or does not play their role has no place in the country,” warned President Saïed, who continues to threaten failing civil servants and state agents.

“During his visit, the President of the Republic spoke with several regional and local officials, urging them to listen attentively to the demands of citizens, not to hinder the accomplishment of their daily affairs, and to ensure the smooth running of public services,” indicates the official Tap agency. She adds: “The President of the Republic also took note of the concerns of citizens of the region, emphasizing that solutions will not take long to come and that they must be of a social and inclusive scope.”

“In this regard, he emphasized the imperative of imposing respect for the law on all, reaffirming the desire to continue the fight against corruption inside and outside the government apparatus. ‘State’ , the agency further emphasizes.
