Tunisia: Head of Government Visits Saudi Arabia for Her First Trip Abroad

On the occasion of her first trip abroad since taking office about two weeks ago, the new Tunisian head of government, Najla Bouden, flew to the Saudi capital Riyadh on Sunday.

The official Tunisian news agency, TAP, indicates that Najla Bouden will participate in the “Middle East Green Initiative Summit”, which will be held in Riyadh on Monday and Tuesday, with the participation of several heads of state and governments.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad, Othman Jerandi, and the Minister of the Environment, Leila Chikhaoui are part of the delegation accompanying Bouden during this visit, specifies the same source.

The Green Middle East Initiative Summit will bring together prominent leaders from the region and around the world, with the aim of strengthening cooperation and unifying efforts to implement common environmental commitments.

Among the most important themes that will be debated at the Summit, are the means to face the climate change crisis, the challenges of the energy transition, and the new investment opportunities in the green economy, according to the website of the Mountain peak.

Najla Bouden took office as Head of Government on October 12, becoming the first woman in the country’s history to hold this office.
