Floods in Algeria: The Toll Is Growing

Yesterday Saturday, Algerians experienced a nightmarish night marked by flooding in several countries, including the capital where entire neighborhoods were flooded.

Caused by heavy rains which fell in several regions, the floods caused several material damages; but also victims. According to the latest civil protection report, at least two people are dead and another is missing.

The first victim was identified this Sunday morning. This is a 58-year-old woman. His lifeless body was recovered by elements of the civil protection near the river in the commune of Saoula (Algiers West).

A person still missing

By late afternoon, another death was reported. This is a man, whose age has not been released. The latter was in the company of the first victim in a vehicle swept away by the floods of Oued Saoula.

A third person is still missing in the same location. Civil protection searches are continuing to find her. On the other hand, several wounded were recorded in the four corners of the capital.

Note that the elements of civil protection have rescued dozens of people. The latter were stuck in their vehicles or washed away. The momentum of citizen solidarity was also present. The citizens took part in several rescue operations.
