The Tunisian security services were able to neutralize an individual classified as terrorist planning to assassinate Tunisian President Kais Saied during a visit he was to make to a coastal town in eastern Tunisia.
According to the Tunisian daily Al Chourouk, the person arrested in Monastir (eastern Tunisia) over the last few hours was interrogated which confirmed his involvement in an operation to assassinate the Tunisian head of state.
For the moment, no official statement from the presidential palace confirming this arrest has been published by the services of the Tunisian presidency.
It should, however, be noted that Kaïs Saïed gave a speech on Friday, on the occasion of a signing ceremony of the distribution agreement for social assistance in favour of poor families, and during which he accused enemies of whom he did not. not reveal the identity of contemplating the assassination and murder, stressing that he does not fear them.
“If I die, today or tomorrow, I would go to the other side as a martyr to the Righteous of the Righteous,” he said.
