Tunisia and Türkiye Agree to Boost Joint Cultural Investments

Turkey and Tunisia agreed on Monday to jointly boost investment in various aspects of culture and discussed the significance of the rich history of partnerships between the two countries.

This is what emerges from the meeting held in Tunis between the Tunisian Minister of Culture, Hayet Guettat Guermazi, and the ambassador of Türkiye in Tunisia, Çağlar Fahri Çakiralp.

The Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs published a statement on its Facebook page, in which it indicates that during the meeting, “a series of proposals were agreed to activate joint investments and strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of heritage. , digital cultural economy, cultural and creative industries, film and music.”

According to the statement, the two parties have agreed on “a set of bilateral agreements to exchange experiences in the fields of cultural and creative industries, the restoration of manuscripts, and the use of the excellence of a certain number of young people specializing in the digital cultural economy to promote historical monuments that bear witness to common historical events.”

Türkiye’s ambassador to Tunisia appreciated “the great wealth of Tunisia’s heritage, which he witnessed during his various visits to several regions of the country”, calling for “encouraging the conservation of Islamic manuscripts and making known their important historical and cultural value.”

He stressed “the importance of strengthening cooperation in the musical field between Tunisian artists and musicians and their Turkish counterparts, throughout the year and during national events of the two countries”, according to the press release from the Tunisian ministry.

And the press release adds: “Pilot projects will be implemented during the year 2023, and two historical personalities, namely: “Hannibal” (Carthaginian leader) and “Khaireddine Pasha” (Tunisian Ottoman minister), will illustrate the heritage enhancement campaign, through virtual events or through the realization of a number of bilateral projects to promote cultural tourism of the two countries.
