The bargain prices charged by low-cost airlines are now a thing of the past. Following the health crisis and the rise in fuel prices, promotions are much timider.

This is particularly the case with the airline  Ryanair. Michael O’Leary, CEO of the low-cost firm, said in a statement to the BBC that Ryanair plane tickets from €0.99 to €9.99 will disappear for “ several years ”.

The low-cost airline provides several services in many countries. It particularly serves several airports in Morocco from France. Morocco is the only Maghreb country served by the Irish low cost.

Ryanair plans a price increase

The CEO of Ryanair has announced that the average price of a plane ticket at Ryanair will increase by 10 € by 2027. Therefore, the average price of a Ryanair plane ticket will increase from 40 to 50 € five years from now, predicts Michael O’Leary.

In this wake, the manager indicates that the promotions that once made Ryanair’s reputation are now history. According to him, air passengers will no longer see prices ranging from 1 to 10 € for a long time. “ I don’t think you will see these prices for the next few years,” he said, reports the specialized site Air Journal.

This increase will penalize several travelers, including many Moroccans residing abroad (MRE) who rely on Ryanair promotions to make round trips to and from Morocco.

It should be noted that all airlines, traditional and low-cost, including Ryanair, have been disastrously impacted by the health crisis. These companies have suffered a lot of losses and are floundering in several problems related to a lack of personnel and various social unrest.
