Tasteatlas Awards: Algerian Cuisine Voted Best in Africa

Rich, friendly and tasty, Algerian cuisine attracts more and more gourmets. Known for its diversity of dishes and spices, but also for its rich gastronomic repertoire which was transmitted from generation to generation, but satisfies all tastes.

At the end of the year, the site specializing in travel and traditional cuisine has established a new ranking. This is the “TASTEATLAS AWARDS 2022”, which ranks the 95 best kitchens in the world. And this is in accordance with the public vote.

As a reminder, on several occasions, many Algerian dishes have stood out in rankings, concerning the best noodle dishes, the best soups, or even the best traditional cakes.

Algerian cuisine was first in Africa and the Arab world

Algerians are so proud of this gastronomic heritage. Traditional Algerian recipes have not aged and continue to seduce foreigners, but also to stand out in the Arab world, on the African and global scale.

According to TasteAtlas, which is based on a public vote, Italian cuisine is the best in the world. Followed by Greek cuisine and that of Spain, in 2nd and 3rd position on this podium.

In this new TasteAtlas ranking, Algerian cuisine occupies 34th place, among 95 other cuisines from different countries. However, what we can see in the “TASTEATLAS AWARDS 2022”, is that Algerian cuisine has dethroned all African countries, but also in the Arab world, occupying first places, with in particular a total score of 4.07 out of 5.

Moreover, according to this specialist in traditional cuisine, Couscous is the best-cooked dish in Algeria. And the Deglet Nour, the best Algerian product, followed by Za’atar and the traditional Bouhezza cheese.
