The Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services, Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas, declared on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, that the volume of trade between her country and Algeria reached, in 2023, 6.3 billion dollars and that this is the “highest figure we have achieved”.

This emerged from a speech delivered during the closing session of the twelfth meeting of the Turkish-Algerian Joint Economic Committee, which was held in Ankara with the participation of the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab.

Goktas added that Turkey maintains strong relations with Algeria and that the potential for cooperation that will be established between the two countries in all areas, particularly commercial and economic, is very high.

The Turkish minister indicated that he had taken the necessary measures to further develop relations between the two countries.

“At the end of 2023, the volume of bilateral trade between Turkey and Algeria reached $6.3 billion,” she said.

She added: “This number is the highest level we have reached so far. We are very pleased to see the increase continue in the first quarter of 2024.”

Goktas expressed his belief that the two countries could easily achieve the bilateral trade volume target of $10 billion set by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
