Signing of a Cooperation Agreement Between the Tunisian “Tap” and Russian “Sputnik” Press Agencies

Tunisie-Tribune (Tunisian press agencies) – The Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) agency has just signed, Friday, at its central headquarters in Tunis, a cooperation agreement with its Russian counterpart the “Sputnik” agency.

The agreement, as well as the accompanying protocol, were co-signed by the CEO of the TAP agency, Najeh Missaoui, and the director of international affairs of the Russian agency “Sputnik”, Vasily Pushkov, during a working session that took place via videoconference.

According to the general provisions of the convention, the two parties agree to develop bilateral professional cooperation in the field of media within the framework of promoting cooperation between the two agencies and also between the Russian Federation and the Tunisian Republic in general.

The agreement further provides that the two parties undertake “to implement projects aimed at developing the media space and contributing to objective and professional media coverage of news and events in the cultural, humanitarian, economic, sporting and political”.

They also undertake to increase the flow of information and media content and to strengthen rapprochement between the people of the two countries.

The agreement expressly grants both parties the right to access and use information under the conditions specified therein, in addition to exchanging delegations of journalists between the two institutions.

According to the agreement, both parties reserve the right to organize joint media events and develop agreements governing the holding of these events in the form of protocols or by way of exchange of correspondence.

The agreement comes into force from the date of its signature and is valid for a period of 12 months, and renewable for a period of one year.

Speaking, the CEO of the TAP agency Najeh Missaoui stressed that this agreement is an “important step” in strengthening exchanges of information, photos, and videos between the two media.

He added that this convention is only the beginning of a process aimed at establishing common projects between the two parties, particularly in the field of training, exchange of experiences, and transmission in complete objectivity. of what is happening in the Tunisian and Russian scenes.

For his part, the deputy general director in charge of editorial, Lamjed Hamdani, indicated that the cooperation agreement will allow the TAP agency to “obtain Russian information from Russian sources”, which “testifies to the great rapprochement between the Tunisian Republic and Russia enshrined in the text of the convention”.

He added that this agreement is part of a perspective of strengthening cooperation at different levels between the two media institutions of the two countries.
