BATNA-Premier Abdelmalek Sellal inspected Monday in Batna the implementation site of the industrial complex for turbine manufacturing in the industrial park of the commune of Ain Yagout.

The first turbine manufactured by the complex will be delivered in late 2018, according to explanations.

Sellal highlighted the importance of “adequacy between university training and development projects underway.”

In this regard, Sellal called to encourage youth to create their businesses and to establish a competitive subcontracting sector around the industrial fabric.

Besides, the Premier focused on increasing the national integration rate with a view to “reducing the import bill and moving towards export.”

Stretching over an area of 20 hectares, the complex is implemented part of an Algeria-U.S. partnership between Sonelgaz group and General Electric (GE).

The complex, worth USD 230 million, is specialized in the manufacturing of gas turbines, steam turbines, alternators and control systems.

The production capacity of the complex, whose commissioning is scheduled for December 2018, varies between 2 and 6 gas turbines and 3 electric turbines per year.

The implementation of this project will allow the creation of 400 direct jobs and 300 indirect ones. It will also participate in the transfer of knowhow through the training of executives that graduate from university and vocational training centres.

During this inspection, Sellal chaired a signing ceremony of three contracts between Sonelgaz and GE on the supply of turbines for the development plan of SPE (Algerian electricity production company/subsidiary of Sonelgaz group), the purchase of equipment for Oumache plant in the province of Batna and maintenance of plants.
