Salon Djazagro Opens in Algiers

More than 650 exhibitors, Algerian and foreign, are participating in the 21st edition of the professional agri-food production exhibition “Djazagro 2024” which opened its doors on Monday at the Algiers Exhibition Center, to present to professionals and the general public the latest innovations in this field.

Coming from 28 countries, participating companies are exhibiting new technologies throughout this show, which runs until April 25, particularly in the areas of equipment, food conditioning, packaging, agri-food processes, ingredients and flavors, hygiene, and food safety.

According to the co-organizer of the event, Nabil Bey Boumezrag, 41% of exhibitors are active in the field of materials and equipment intended for the agri-food process, particularly bakery and pastry.

Thus, visitors can discover, among other things, new complete processing installations and technological solutions proposed for the dairy industry, covering the entire production chain including milk reception, pasteurization, and whey treatment.

In terms of packaging, which represents 23% of the event, professionals can discover new types of aseptic and non-aseptic packaging intended for different sectors of activity, new generation labelers, designed according to an innovative system offering a speed of superior printing and improved connectivity.

To highlight the innovations presented at the show, a competition is organized to reward the best innovative solutions in the field (equipment, products, services, techniques, etc.).

Indeed, 22 applications were preselected as part of this Djaz’Innov competition, the prize-giving ceremony of which is scheduled for the last day of the event.

Furthermore, conferences on themes related to the agriculture and agri-food sector will also be organized during the show.

The communications will focus in particular on the problem of food waste, organic products, the issues of traceability and the labeling of local products, food safety, export opportunities in Africa, and the conformity of food products.
