President Bouteflika pays tribute to national liberation war martyrs.

ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Tuesday paid tribute to the memory of national liberation war martyrs, at the Martyrs Square in El Alia Cemetery, Algiers, as part of the celebration of the 62nd anniversary of the outbreak of the national liberation war (1954-1962).

After he saluted a Republican Guard detachment which rendered him honours, President Bouteflika laid a wreath at a stele commemorating and recited the Fatiha, the first chapter of the Noble Qur’an, in the memory of the martyrs, before kissing the national flag.

The ceremony was attended by the speaker of the Council of the Nation (upper house of Parliament), Abdelkader Bensalah, the speaker of People’s National Assembly (lower house of Parliament), Mohamed Larbi Ould Khelifa, Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, the president of the Constitutional Council, Mourad Medelci, the minister of State, Principal Private Secretary at the presidency of the Republic, Ahmed Ouyahia.

The tribute ceremony marking the 62nd anniversary of the outbreak of the national liberation war was also held in the presence of the minister of State, special adviser of President of the Republic, Tayeb Belaiz, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra, the deputy minister of the National Defence, Chief of Army Staff of the People National Army, Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaid Salah, Minister of Mujahideen (national liberation war veterans) Tayeb Zitouni, the secretary general of the National Organization of Mujahideen, Said Abadou, in addition to members of the Government.
