Almost 18 months after their closure due to the health crisis, the borders between Algeria and Qatar were reopened at the beginning of last November, to the delight of the many Algerian nationals, now authorized to fly to or from this Gulf country.

The Algerian authorities have granted, for this purpose, the authorization to two airlines, namely Air Algeria and Qatar Airways, the authorization to serve the Algiers-Doha-Algiers line at the rate of two flights per week, for each company.

Indeed, Qatar Airways, which is authorized within the framework of reciprocity to ensure this line with Air Algeria, announced a program of 2 commercial flights per week, every Friday and Sunday in Airbus A359 between Algiers and Doha. This program will run until March 22, 2022, according to the press release released on November 14 by the company.

Qatar places Algeria on its red list

Until then, Algerian travelers to Doha were not subject to restrictions linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, for the simple reason that Algeria was on the green list of the Qatari authorities. But this will change from January 1, 2022, following the decision of the Qatari government to place Algeria on its red list for travel.

In fact, in an update published on December 28, 2021, the Qatar Ministry of Health announced a new red list that includes Algeria. This new red list, which went from 23 to 47 countries, saw the addition of 24 new countries, including Algeria. It also includes France, Spain, England, the United States, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
