Morocco has signed a contract with Canada to equip its Turkish drones, thus bypassing the embargo on the country of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Morocco has reached an agreement with Canada for the equipment of 13 Turkish drones developed by Baykar Defense with Wescam electro-optics that it had in the meantime ordered, reports C4 Defense. Canada had declared an embargo on Turkey and announced the cancellation of 29 military export permits to this country on April 12. The embargo also affects Wescam cameras used in Bayraktar TB2 drones.
Last month, the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) ordered 13 Bayraktar TB-2 drones and four ground control stations from Turkish company Baykar. Delivery is scheduled for 2022. Once received, these devices will allow Morocco to strengthen the surveillance and attack missions of its army.
