A total of 700 people die of AIDS annually in Morocco, local media reported on Wednesday.
Citing a report of the Moroccan Health Ministry, Alyaoum24.com news site said the north African kingdom register nearly 1,000 new cases yearly.
Since 1986, the ministry has registered over 13,200 infections with AIDS, and 50 percent of infections are concentrated in three out of the 12 regions of Morocco, namely Casa-Settat, Marrakech-Safi and the Souss-Massa region, the same source pointed out.
The Ministry has developed, in collaboration with its partners, a new national strategic plan to fight AIDS for the period 2017-2021, it noted.
The plan aims to reduce by 75 percent new infections and eliminate mother-to-child transmission, it added. Enditem
