Morocco Receives Chinese Anti-aircraft Defense System FD-2000b

The Royal Armed Forces (FAR) have received the first batch of the Chinese long-range anti-aircraft defense system with a Chinese FD-2000B battery, ordered in 2017, according to the Spanish site Defensa.com.

Morocco is strengthening its defense capabilities. According to the Spanish site specializing in military matters, Defensa.com, the FAR received the first batch of the Chinese anti-aircraft defense system FD-2000B ordered in 2017.  

“This new defense system, with a range of 250 km was installed at the military base of Sidi Yahya El Gharb, located about fifty kilometers north of Rabat on an area of ​​42,000 m2”, indicates the same source. which also reports that the said base houses “another Sky Dragon 50 medium-range anti-aircraft defense system, also acquired from China in 2017”. 

As a reminder, the contract for the acquisition of four FD-2000B batteries was concluded as part of HM King Mohammed VI’s state visit to China, carried out in May 2016.

In addition to the Chinese FD-2000B long-range Chinese anti-aircraft defense system, Morocco of which three lots are awaiting delivery, the Kingdom also plans to acquire other defense systems, including the American Patriot and Barak.
