Since its return to the African Union, Morocco has continued to strengthen its cooperation with other countries on the continent, following the example of Togo in several areas. In terms of university education, the Cherifian Kingdom has revised upwards the quota of its scholarships granted annually to Togolese students.

Morocco, host country for Togolese students

The Morocco-Togo axis of cooperation is getting stronger day by day. One of the major aspects of this bilateral cooperation is higher education. As such, the number of Togolese scholarship holders in Morocco is increasing.

This year again, the Cherifian Kingdom welcomes 150 young Togolese, including 130 students and 20 in vocational training. The first wave of these students boarded at Gnassingbé Eyadema international airport in Lomé on the evening of Wednesday October 19, 2022 in the direction of the Cherifian Kingdom, informs us Republic of Togo.

These Togolese students will be trained in several specialties, namely: Medicine, pharmacy, architecture, mathematics, physics, agriculture, biology, geology.

Reacting to this news, Hamid Mechino, Chargé d’Affaires of the Moroccan Embassy in Lomé, believes that “the increase in the quota this year is a good sign of the evolution of our bilateral cooperation marked by the recent opening to Lomé of an embassy. Sharing is the bedrock of Morocco’s foreign policy. We share what we know how to do with brotherly countries,” said the Moroccan diplomat, interviewed by Republic of Togo.

This program is initiated and funded by the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), headed by Mohamed Methqal.

The Rabat-Lomé axis is doing well

The increase in the scholarship quota granted by the Moroccan authorities to Togolese students illustrates in many respects the excellent nature of the centuries-old diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Indeed, the opening of the Consulate General of Togo in Dakhla (Western Sahara) last July, further consolidated the strong and historical ties that unite the two countries. Very active in promoting growth in Africa, Morocco projects global soft power and rightly deploys enormous diplomatic effort to achieve its goals.
