Morocco is launching the MoroccoTech initiative, the national brand for promoting the Moroccan digital sector, led by the Ministry in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, in close collaboration with the Federation of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Offshoring (APEBI), and in partnership with AMDIE, ADD, CGEM, AUSIM and Technopark.

MoroccoTech aims, on the one hand, to position Morocco as a digital destination of choice internationally, and on the other hand, to create a global dynamic that will benefit all Moroccan ecosystems in their digital transformation. This initiative, resulting from a “public-private” partnership approach, is the expression of a mobilizing and unifying movement of the various players in the Moroccan digital ecosystem.

This event was chaired by Ms. Ghita MEZZOUR, Minister Delegate, in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, in the presence of Mr. Younes SEKKOURI, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills. It was marked by the mobilization of several public and private actors who joined forces to initiate this new identity of the Moroccan technological scene. Eminent national and international personalities from the digital, economic, academic and institutional worlds also took part in this event.

“This day is a celebration of digital Made in Morocco”, mentioned Ghita MEZZOUR during her speech. The Minister also emphasized Morocco’s determination to establish itself as a regional digital hub, through the Morocco Tech brand, in particular by promoting its assets as a “tech destination”.

“Morocco has one of the most attractive talent pools in the region and one of the best infrastructures on the continent. The Kingdom can also rely on a large number of innovative companies that support customers in Morocco and around the world, particularly in the field of offshoring. It thus demonstrates its ability to develop an internationally competitive digital ecosystem, thanks to its adapted offers and its tailor-made support for investors, making it possible to attract several prestigious technology companies to set up and invest in Morocco. underlined the Minister Ghita MEZZOUR.

Chakib ALJ, President of CGEM, also added that “The Morocco Tech brand will be supported by both the public sector and private actors within the framework of effective and results-oriented governance. The CGEM is fully aware of the role of a successful technological transformation to strengthen the competitiveness and attractiveness of our economy internationally, but also to accelerate the creation of jobs and added value, in line with the New Model of Development. We will work, with and through APEBI, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Transition, AMDIE and AUSIM to achieve the objectives set and position our country as one of the best destinations for technology and innovation in the continent and in the world”.

The inauguration day was punctuated by many rich interventions. The discussions focused on strong measures in favor of the development of digital in our country: whether on the mode of governance of the brand, the multiple funding opportunities, the pool of talents available to the Kingdom, as well as the role that the diaspora could play in the digital influence of Morocco.

In parallel with the debates, many start-ups, SMEs and large Moroccan companies exhibited their digital innovations. They highlighted the essential role of technology in the positive transformation of their activity or their sector.

By bringing together all the stakeholders involved in digital transformation and through the launch of the MoroccoTech brand, the Kingdom has defined its objective: to rise to the rank of global digital place.

It is with this ambition that all the partners have come together around this new national identity, decided to strengthen the weight of digital in our economy and amplify its positive impact on society. Indeed, only a collective “movement” can activate the necessary levers for the influence and digital attractiveness of the Kingdom.
