Morocco has donated 100 tonnes of fertilizer to El Salvador to support the country’s agricultural development, local press reports citing official sources.

The cargo arrived at the port of Acajutla, in western El Salvador, where the deed of receipt was signed in the warehouse of the Agricultural Development Bank (BFA). Fertilizers were stored there for distribution to farmers, the same source said.

The ceremony was chaired by Morocco’s Chargé d’Affaires in El Salvador, Brahim Baddi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Adriana Mira and Minister of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) Oscar Guardado.

The Moroccan diplomat said on this occasion that this delivery is a strong sign of the consolidation of diplomatic relations between the two countries and a proof of solidarity.

On its website, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador indicated that “this collaboration [with Morocco] is extremely important to increase the productivity of our fields, as well as to guarantee the food security of Salvadorans. Likewise, it reflects the strong bonds of friendship and common work that the two nations are forging.”

“We are extremely happy with this donation, which will help achieve the objectives set for agriculture in the country,” commented Deputy Foreign Minister Adriana Mira.
