Many important cooperation projects are on the meeting agenda between the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, on Monday, March 4, 2024, in Rabat, and the Spanish Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Oscar Puente Santiago.

During a press briefing at the end of the meeting, Mr. Baraka affirmed that the talks with his counterpart were an opportunity to examine ways to strengthen bilateral relations and to develop a road map for the implementation of large-scale projects relating to infrastructure and the 2030 Football World Cup, which will be co-organized by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.

The discussions focused on the continental link project between Morocco and Spain, which should contribute to the consolidation of bilateral relations between Rabat and Madrid. The Moroccan minister thus mentioned the meeting of the Spanish-Moroccan Joint Committee, which will be held at the end of May 2024, to develop a roadmap for the evaluation of the studies carried out for this purpose and to finalize the design of this strategic project for both countries, as well as for the African and European continents.

Mr. Puente Santiago, for his part, recalled that the talks made it possible to examine various projects in the fields of infrastructure, including the rail and road networks, the common challenges linked to the organization of the 2030 Football World Cup. , as well as port cooperation. Describing this meeting as “fruitful”, the Spanish minister welcomed the good relations enjoyed by Morocco and Spain, calling for taking advantage of this dynamic to achieve further progress for the benefit of both countries.
