This visit follows on from the successful Trade Mission to Morocco, lead by Minister Creed last November.

Senior Department officials accompanied by Sustainable Food Systems Ireland hosted high level discussions in Agriculture House, where opportunities for enhanced trade and cooperation were discussed.

The Moroccan delegation is also meeting with key state agencies such as Bord Bia, Enterprise Ireland and Teagasc.

Last year Minister Creed spent three days in Morocco, where he held a series of political and commercial meetings in the Agadir region to raise the profile of the Irish agri-food sector.

At the time he said thatย Moroccoย is a country with whom we have an existing trade in agri-food already and which is showing phenomenal growth in recent years but this week has highlighted the potential for this to grow much further.

Agri-food exports from Ireland to Morocco in 2015 continued to grow. They have now almost doubled from around โ‚ฌ8m in 2013 to almost โ‚ฌ14.5m in 2015.
