Mobilis and Djezzy have announced the launch of LTE commercial offers, as they start their LTE network deployment plans in selected areas of the country. The Algerian government gave operators the official green light on 25 September, authorising the launch of LTE services by the three mobile licence holders, Mobilis, Djezzy and Ooredoo.

Mobilis disclosed that its LTE network is now live in areas of Ouargla and Hassi Messaoud. The company plans to roll out services across fourteen regions (or wilayas) in the next twelve months, including the three (Ouargla, Algiers and Oran) specified in the coverage obligations attached to its spectrum licence.

Djezzy’s LTE network has gone live in areas of Constantine, Setif and Djelfa, with a target to reach 19 percent of the Algerian population by September 2017. Djezzy’s CEO Tom Gutjahr stated that the operator plans to extend coverage to 54 percent of the population by 2021.
