Back in Algeria after being hospitalized in Germany, Abdelmadjid Tebboune “would aim to organize” early legislative elections “in June 2021”, party leader Jil Jadid said on the radio.

Expected since December 12, 2019, the day of the election of Abdelmadjid Tebboune to the post of President of the Algerian Republic, the legislative elections will probably take place in June, assures this Monday February 15 the leader of the political party Jil Jadid (New generation) , Sofiane Djilali, on Channel 3 of the Algerian National Radio.

Thus, upon his return on February 12 from Germany, “President Tebboune immediately went back to work, especially since a large number of events await the Algerians“, underlines Mr Djilali, suggesting that the Head of State has regained all his strength after being infected with Covid-19.

He added that all political parties are waiting for the disclosure of the new electoral law “to finally know the new rules and be reassured that it will ensure the transparency and integrity of the electoral process“. In this sense, Sofiane Djilali, who was received by the head of state on Sunday February 14, informs that the latter “would aim to organize [early] legislative elections in June 2021“.
Towards a legitimate Parliament
For Mr Djilali, the current Parliament, with its two chambers, elected during the former power of Abdelaziz Bouteflika, has “no credibility or legitimacy“.

We must therefore elect new, clean and legitimate institutions,” he adds, stressing that the Head of State “has all the data” necessary to instill real change in the country, in line with popular aspirations which will celebrate on February 22 the second anniversary of Hirak, a citizen movement that put an end to the old power.
As such, Sofiane Djilali believes that President Tebboune should “pay attention to the cases of prisoners of conscience” and wishes him “to take strong measures about them capable of restoring the confidence of Algerians and of uniting them” to this opportunity.
